Black activists founded the Black Radical Congress in 1998 to rally and unite black political actions against inequality and discrimination. Their commitment to unity led them to face the pervading problem of sexism and homophobia within their ranks.

The Promise Keepers phenomenon is just about as complex as the man who founded the movement: Bill McCartney. It is an evangelical group which has answered a deep need for men to bond. It is a movement that can easily become a political bloc.
