Carl Lewis is recognized as the greatest track-and-field athlete of all time, but he had not won public esteem and affection until the approach of the 1992 Olympics. Lewis failed to qualify for the 100- and 200- meter sprints, but he is focusing on winning a gold medal in the high jump.
