Boss Tweed, hacker
Article Abstract:
The New York City Board of Elections would like to replace the city's mechanized vote counting system with a brand new computerized system. The problem is that the system would cost $60 million to purchase and install and the Board of Elections can not guarantee that it would be totally secure from fraud. The current system is outdated and relies on mechanical counters and levers but to sabotage the voting count would be very difficult because the person would have to sabotage individual machines. An electronic system would make it possible for a single person to sabotage the entire vote count just by changing the program's source code. The biggest threat could come from elections workers. The system developers say that they can build into the system a series of audits that will allow them to trace any sabotage and a system of checks and balances that will require the data to be properly entered. Security officials say that these methods will be irrelevant and that the data can not possibly be guaranteed secure.

Rheumatoid arthritis
Article Abstract:
Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is caused by the invasion of lymphocytes, plasma cells, macrophages and dendritic cells in the joints, leading to synovial fluid accumulation. These cells cause extensive tissue and bone degradation. HLA-DR genes play a major role in inducing RA by activating faulty type 1 T cells and beta cells that fail to undergo cell necrosis. Therapies that eliminate T cells are inefficient because they weaken the immune system. The prevention of the abnormal activation of beta cells and cytokine inhibition is the best treatment for RA.

War of words
Article Abstract:
New technology has granted journalism more speed in breaking news out. However, critics feel that news accounts make the military look inefficient or are often done in bad taste. On the other hand, new media inventions must not be judged beyond their task of showing combat as it really is.
