Actually getting the bad news is less painful to a potential cancer patient than waiting to hear. The physician's positive approach to the patient is important because of the hope that it gives. The surgeon must not become a friend of the patient because of the life-death decisions that must be made.

Many factors explain why mammography sometimes fails to detect breast cancer, such as human error, breast implants and fat density of the breast. The importance of biopsies is emphasized to obtain an early diagnosis of cancer.

Americans are offended when they see women with breasts exposed in ads or magazines yet manufacturers come up with underwear that will enhance breasts. Although half-exposure of the breast is acceptable, total exposure is not.
