London
Article Abstract:
Twyla Tharp's rendition of 'Mr. Worldly Wise' performed at the Royal Ballet in London is an ambitious and large-scale production set to music by Gioachino Rossini. The work is an allegory inspired by the life of Rossini with separate phases in his life evoked by each act. The piece falls apart despite an impressive performance by Irek Mukhamedov as Mister Worldly-Wise. Tharp's debut at the Royal Ballet is long-winded and is essentially a one-act play stretched into three parts.
