Centralized versus decentralized provision of local public goods: a political economy approach
Article Abstract:
The trade-off between centralized and decentralized provision of local public goods is analyzed. Sharing of costs of local spending in a centralized system results into a conflict among various jurisdictions and it is stated that spillovers and differences in tastes for public spending are the factors responsible for the relative performance of centralized and decentralized systems.

Lobbying under political uncertainty
Article Abstract:
Lobbying is introduced as a central element of the decision-making process leading to determination of economic policy. The main focus is given on a model of lobbying described as a common agency game, which characterizes equilibria when the choice set of politician consists of two policies.

An econometric model examining the factors that can result secession is presented. The effect of decentralization in a country with different preferences for national policies in some regions is examined. Methods of decentralization that could bring in political equilibrium are also studied.
