Article Abstract:
The Democratic candidates for the US Congress, in the 1996 elections in California, emerged winners in 29 districts out of a total of 52. The Republicans won in 23 districts, while others failed to grab any of the seats. Five districts returned the Democratic incumbents with a vote percentage greater than eighty, while the highest percentage of votes secured by any Republican, in district 21, was 66%. Statistics for each district that includes the percentage of votes polled by each contestant, number of registrations for the Republicans and the Democrats, and a brief synopsis of the election tussle are presented.

The Democrats and Republicans equally share twenty of the odd numbered California Senate districts in election 1996. District 25 returned the Democratic candidate with the largest margin of victory in terms of the percentage of votes polled, whereas Republicans recorded their largest victory margin in district 33. The district wise statistics that include the percentage of votes polled by each contestant, number of registrations for the Republicans and the Democrats, and a brief synopsis of the election tussle are presented.

Article Abstract:
A district-by-district analysis of the upcoming elections for state senators of California is presented. Aside from presenting the names of all the candidates, the analysis also shows the percentage of voters that the Democratic Party and the Republican Party have so far garnered in each of the districts. The analysis is capped off by one-liners regarding the chances of either mainstream parties as far as a particular district is concerned.
