Fiscal policy, seasonality, and intertemporal substitution of investment spending in the UK
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to examine the effects of pre-announced variations in fiscal policy on capital investment. The study applies the Engel-Granger two-step procedure for estimating variables. Results show that seasonal changes in investment spending for equipment can be described as an economic process using similar basis. Long-run conditions indicate the dominant influence of pre-tax factor price ratio on factor substitution.

Modelling the take-up of state support
Article Abstract:
Take-up of state support is modelled. Standard analysis is extended by acknowledging that errors in entitlement can be committed by the researcher and the welfare agency. The take-up of Supplementary Benefits in the UK is used in applying the analysis. It is shown that the welfare impact of state support is dampened by costs and aggravate errors in entitlement estimates by modelling the costs to take-up of state support.
