Larry Margolis
Article Abstract:
Larry Margolis, the seventy-one year old chief of staff of the Speaker of the California State Assembly, died in Jan 1997. He and the Speaker, Jesse M. Unruh, were instrumental in ushering in the modern legislative era. Margolis believed in a strong and independent legislature that would be free from lobbyists' and the governor's control. Southern exposure
Article Abstract:
The San Francisco Bay Area is perceived as provincial and backward by residents of Southland, CA. Southland residents believe that San Francisco is deluding itself over its real economic status. Urban living in San Francisco is marked by poverty, poor health, homelessness and poor water supply. In comparison, Southland residents enjoy lush landscapes, good weather, an abundant water supply and the opportunity to have their own cars.
