New party has Democrats seeing ... green
Article Abstract:
The entry of the Green Party into California's political arena has produced varied reactions from other parties in the state. Democrats' Political Dir Bob Mulholland considered the Green Party's emergence as detrimental to the success of the state's environmental control efforts. Mulholland believed the party is liable to grant exploitative environmental contracts to Republicans and their friends in business. On the other hand, the Peace and Freedom Party welcomed the Green Party as another political group that would encourage wider non-voter participation in California's political affairs.

A year of unfulfilled expectations
Article Abstract:
The 1996 presidential election is significant for its unfulfilled expectations. With the unexpected results of the primary polls in New Hampshire and Iowa, the presidential nominees are struggling to make a dream come true. California, although expected to play an important role in the March 1996 primary election, is yet to receive national spotlight. Senators and Congressmen doing politics under the banner of Proposition 140 will be forced out of office despite unfulfilled expectations. Both parties are spending money in doubtful Assembly districts, expecting to take over the Houses.

Article Abstract:
The author critiques a statement made by Garry South, a political consultant for Gov. Gray Davis, who implied that the dominance of the Democratic Party in California is due to Davis' leadership.
