Ricardian equivalence: long-run Leviathan
Article Abstract:
An overlapping-generations with-altruism model that incorporates three well-known macroeconomic models is presented. This heterogeneous model, in which intergenerational discounting is stochastic, nests the macroeconomic models proposed by Ramsey (1928), Diamond (1965) and Blanchard (1985) models. It is demonstrated that under a mild condition derived by Weil (1987), long-run capital intensity stands up to all theoretical criticism of the standard Ricardian model.
