The connection between public transfers and private interfamily transfers
Article Abstract:
A study analyzes the public transfer's effectiveness in preventing poverty in line with private-transfer responses. Widespread private transfers that are motivated by altruism have a neutralizing effect on the public transfer's distributional impact. However, transfers that are motivated by change enhance the public transfer's impact on the economic well-being distribution. Empirical results do not prove that public-income transfers are replacements for private safety nets built on altruism.

On the demand for grandchildren: tied transfers and the demonstration effect
Article Abstract:
A study showing that the financial help received by children as a downpayment for housing from parents is with an ulterior motive. The parents provide such assistance to the children as an incentive to encourage the production of grandchildren, which orients child's need to give better attention to the parent. By demonstrating such a behavior the child sets example to his children of the appropriate behavior.
