The politics of progressive income taxation with incentive effects
Article Abstract:
The conditions under which progressive tax schedules emerge as a voting outcome are determined. Three strategies are adopted which capture different aspects of political behavior, however pointing to the same conclusion that progress emerges as a voting outcome.

A general formula for the optimal level of social insurance

A formula to determine the optimal level of social insurance based on risk aversion, consumption-smoothing benefit of unemployed insurance and the flexibility of unemployment duration is proposed.
