The private provision of public goods: altruism and voluntary giving
Article Abstract:
Previous research has concentrated on the impact of tax policy and government spending policy on voluntary giving and the private provision of public goods. However, research has failed to address the impact of a household's characteristics and economic circumstances on the decision to give or not to give. The effects of a household's altruistic history on current giving decisions have also not been tackled. To remedy this problem, the determinants of charitable giving, including the role of altruism, is examined using data on exact giving by individual households for the support of a rural health care facility.

Uniqueness of Nash equlibrium in private provision of public goods: an improved proof
Article Abstract:
An analysis of Nash equilibrium conditions is presented. The analysis considers the unique character of such an equilibrium and focuses on the private provision of public goods. It is shown that earlier research on the topic generated opaque conclusions. In addition, Nash equilibrium conditions generate inequality in the public goods market for all consumers regardless of contributing status.
