U.S Senate
Article Abstract:
The primaries for the US Senate proved to be extraordinary. The Democratic campaign pitted well-known candidates Dianne Feinstein, former mayor of San Francisco, and state Controller Gray Davis. Feinstein won easily over Davis whose mismanaged campaign missed a lot of opportunities. Meanwhile, Republican John Seymour also claimed an easy victory over Bill Dannemeyer. Although the campaigns fell short of expectations, voters gave an unambiguous mandate for the November elections which promises an interesting treatment of issues.

Deconstructing Harris
Article Abstract:
Democrat politicians were shocked and dismayed when assembly candidate Elihu Harris, long-term legislator, lost his seat to Green party politician Audie Bock. Block, who received 327 votes more than Harris on Mar 30, 1999, has far less political experience than Harris. The California Democratic Party tried to encourage people to vote for Harris by offering a total of 3,800 free cooked meals.
