Issues are presented concerning the results of the elections to the US Senate which took place in the state of California in 2000. The election was won by Democrat Dianne Feinstein with 56% of the vote.

The underdog: is Gray Davis the spoiler of 1992?
Article Abstract:
California State Controller Gray Davis has ruined Dianne Feinstein's hope for an unchallenged primary when he decided to run for California's seat in the US Senate for 1992. Davis will challenge Feinstein in a Democratic primary; the winner will run against Republican John Seymour. Davis considers his race against Feinstein as his toughest considering that Feinstein's greater political experience which was gained during the gubernatorial bout with Gov Pete Wilson in 1990. However, Davis is planning to use his talent in fund raising to ensure the defeat of Feinstein.

Article Abstract:
Barbara Boxer won the primary elections for US Senate with 2,466,489 votes but took only 44% of the total votes. California Treasurer Matt Fong was clearly the favorite in the Republican primary with his mother, the former Secretary of State March Fong Eu, campaigning for him and promising to play an active role in the Nov 1998 elections. Meanwhile, the Grand Old Party has named Boxer almost at the top of the national target list.
