Wilson's budget spin
Article Abstract:
Pete Wilson assumed governorship of California at a time when the state economy was heavily suffering from a steep drop in the business cycle and decreased military spending. However, during his eight years in office, the local economy has remarkably grown, jobs have increased and state revenues have risen. Although credit should go to Wilson for having exercised prudent fiscal management, his critics foresee a rise in taxes, an unevenly distributed state budget, a narrow reserve and a bleak economic picture for California in the near future.
