Assembly
Article Abstract:
Brief profiles of the candidates for the primaries and the 1996 state assembly elections in California are given. The primaries will be closely contested as new contenders are in the field, with the term limits for legislatures vacating many seats. Democrats are the favorites in 46 out of the 80 assembly districts. District 48, a democrat stronghold where black Americans dominate, has no Republican aspirant. Very close contests are likely in 32 seats.
