Urban industrial land redevelopment and contamination risk
Article Abstract:
A study in Chicago land redevlopment shows contamination liability is modeled as a land demolition cost capitalized into bid value. In turn, this factor allows estimating how contamination risk affects land value and the probability of redevelopment.

Redistributive public employment

US urban politicians use public employment to produce income for disadvantaged groups as a means of acquiring power. City employment is markedly higher in cities with high rates of ethnic fragmentation and income inequality.

Availability of mortgage loans in volatile real estate markets
Article Abstract:
Price volatility in real estate markets increases the fraction of downpayment loans for single family houses. Mortgage default rates increase in volatile markets, as well.
