Contract balk
Article Abstract:
Physicians throughout the US are growing increasingly upset over their managed care contracts. As individual physicians, they have little power to negotiate with large insurers that offer lower fees and restrictive policies as part of their contracts. Many physicians are turning to the American Medical Assn and other state associations to develop guidelines for managed care contracts.

Kentucky turnabout: but will the state's legislative changes lure back insurers?
Article Abstract:
Kentucky passed health insurance reform in 1994 which guaranteed health insurance to all state residents. Over 55 insurance companies left the state. A new law was implemented in Apr 1998 that will allow insurance companies to set health insurance rates based upon the health status of the patient. Kentucky hopes that the insurance companies that left the state will return.
