Collaborative ventures in outcomes management: roles and responsibilities in a service line model
Article Abstract:
Service line organization is a business concept that can provide a model for a team-based approach to outcomes management of health care delivery. Outcomes management utilizes an interdisciplinary team to develop and implement enhanced practice. The collaborative team includes roles for the service line manager, advanced practice nurse, nurse manager, staff nurse, physician and administrator. The advanced practice nurse functions as outcomes manager.

Outcomes management provides a leadership role to advanced practice nurses in reengineering medical services across a health care continuum. In outcomes management the advance practice nurse manages interdisciplinary delivery of care and measurement of outcomes. Improving standardized practices by identifying opportunities to develop better practice methods is another function of the advance practice nurse in this framework.

Outcomes management: from theory to practice
Article Abstract:
Outcomes management is an effective framework for evaluating and administering health outcomes in a new health care system that will be patient driven, based on disease prevention and able to supply care across the continuum. The outcomes management model is a four-part process that ensures clinical excellence, informed health care consumers, predictions of resource use and decreased financial risk.
