Income-related inequalities in health: some international comparisons
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted on income and health related inequalities in nine industrialized countries using health interview survey data. Results showed that a strong correlation between inequalities in health and income exists across countries. Income-related inequalities in self-assessed health are common in all nine countries favoring groups with higher income. The US and the UK showed the highest inequalities compared to other European countries like Sweden, Finland and East Germany which had the lowest inequality.

Equity in the finance of health care: some further international comparisons
Article Abstract:
The use of a new procedure in the analysis of the way health care is financed in various nations of the world confirmed the earlier findings of three major groupings. These include countries who finance their health care programs through social insurance systems, privately-financed systems or tax-financed systems. The latest analysis also revealed that only one country, Spain, has ever shifted its health care financing system when it moved to tax finance from social insurance in 1989.
