Management retention contracts in health care affiliations
Article Abstract:
Management retention contracts remain as financial obligations for hospitals even if the latter are to be sold. The contracts are paid for with money received from the sale. They also become expense items in new partnerships. However, these contracts are never exercised in most situations since private hospitals would like to retain their key officials at the same positions. As such, no considerable financial burden is incurred when hospital boards resort to these arrangements.

Joint hospital management by physicians and nursing administrators
Article Abstract:
Physicians and nurse administrators have major roles to play in hospital administration. Effective hospital management and the quality of hospital care, for that matter, depend to a large extent on how these health care workers interact with one another. Such interaction can be better explained by applying the theory of cooperation and competition to physicians and nurse administrators.

Capitated hospital contracts: the empty beds versus filled beds controversy
Article Abstract:
The health care industry is aware of the importance of keeping people healthy and out of hospitals. However, contracts between hospitals and managed-care organizations may lead to the bankruptcy of hospitals with policies that discourage patients from staying in their facilities. This is particularly true in capitated payment systems and diagnostic-related group payment systems.
