The impact of managed care on physicians
Article Abstract:
The emergence of managed care in the US healthcare industry has created a number of adverse effects on medical practices, particularly on the overall performance of physicians. A survey conducted on medical practitioners in Arizona revealed a significant reduction in the satisfaction level of physicians in terms of work schedule and salary. Although managed care encouraged physicians to spend more time responding to patient complaints, it has been reported to undermine the clinical decision making of doctors.

Physician attitudes toward pharmaceutical sales representatives
Article Abstract:
Much has been written about the activities of pharmaceutical sales representatives (PSRs) who are tasked with marketing pharmaceuticals to physicians and influencing physicians to prescribe their company's products. Interest in PSRs stem mainly from the influence they exert on physicians. The factors that influence physicians' favorable or unfavorable attitudes towards PSRs are determined. Recommendations to increase the chances of favorable acceptance of PSRs by physicians are also presented.
