Medical costs in worker's compensation insurance
Article Abstract:
Workers covered by worker's compensation insurance are charged more for medical services than those who are covered by traditional insurance. Medical charges data from the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry indicate that the discrepancy resulted from better and more intensive services given to such patients to make them return to work sooner and reduce indemnity costs. The discrepancy could also be attributed to overcharging doctors who take advantage of the cost sharing nature of worker's compensation insurance.
