Playing by the rules
Article Abstract:
The implementation and management of physician health networks is hampered by a variety of state and federal antitrust laws. Generally, antitrust laws prohibit physicians from price-fixing, but physician organizations that openly discuss fees and finances could violate antitrust laws. Some general guidelines for avoiding antitrust problems are outlined, such as requiring physician participants to share in the financial risk and not controlling a large segment of the market.
