Predicting the degree of rurality of physician assistant practice location
Article Abstract:
The role physician assistants (PA) in the effective operation of rural hospitals cannot be overemphasized. To ensure that there are an adequate supply of physician assistants to meet the ever-growing needs and demand for PA is rural locations, it is imperative that policies be formulated that would provide support to rural-oriented PA-education/training programs, as well as support for primary care specialties.

Hospitals are more likely than medical groups to take a proactive approach to expansion or to adding or changing services, according to a Center for Research in Ambulatory Health Care Administration survey. The survey asked experts to assess medical groups' and hospitals' strategic orientation in terms of four orientation types: prospector, analyzer, defender, and reactor.
