7 PHS executives suspended in corruption probe
Article Abstract:
Seven U.S. Public Health Service executives were suspended with pay on Feb 18, 1992 and charged with attempting to defraud the government of $21,000 by double-billing travel-related expenses. The executives worked in the San Francisco office, which supervises federal health programs for Western states, Guam and American Samoa. Former Assistant Surgeon General Sheridan Weinstein was named as a co-conspirator, but was not charged.
