A novel human primary immunodeficiency syndrome caused by deficiency of the endosomal adaptor protein p14
Article Abstract:
A previously unknown primary immunodeficiency disorder is described and evidence is provided that the disease is caused by the deficiency of the late endosomal-lysosomal MEK binding partner 1 (MP1)-interacting protein. The distribution of late endosomes are severely perturbed in p14-deficient cells, which has implications for understanding the endosomal membrane dynamics, compartmentalization of cell signal cascades and their role on immunity.

LEF-1 is crucial for neutrophil granulocytopoiesis and its expression is severely reduced in congenital neutropenia
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to demonstrate that lymphoid enhancer-binding factor 1 (LEF-1) mediates the proliferation, survival and differentiation of granulocyte progenitor cells. The observations indicate that LEF-1 is an instructive factor regulating neutrophilic granulopoiesis whose absence plays a critical role in the defective maturation program of myeloid progenitors in individuals with congenital neutropenia (CN).

Platelet TLR4 activates neutrophil extracellular traps to ensnare bacteria in septic blood
Article Abstract:
This article explains several cellular events leading to enhanced trapping of bacteria in blood vessels with severe sepsis. This cellular event took place in the liver and pulmonary capillaries which have a good capability of trapping the bacteria.
