A novel viral mechanism for dysregulation of beta-catenin in Kaposi sarcoma-associated herpesvirus latency
Article Abstract:
Results reveal tha beta-catenin is overexpressed in both primary effusion lymphoma cells and kaposi's sarcoma tissue and that the latency-associated nuclear antigen binds to the negative regulator GSK-3beta leading to the latter's accumulation and stabilization of the beta-catenin. The accumulation of GSK-3beta is cell cycle-dependent and its redistribution causes beta-catenin dysregulation in human cancers.

Telomere dynamics in cancer progression and prevention: fundamental differences in human and mouse teleomere biology
Article Abstract:
This article examines the behavior of human and mice fibroblast cells with respect to telomerase function and its role in cancer progression and prevention. Research demonstrates that in human fibroblasts, the mortality stage 2 prevents premalignant cells becoming malignant unlike telomerase negative mice fibroblasts despite their high rate of cell division.

Learning old tricks from new viruses
Article Abstract:
Research shows that the principal latent nuclear antigen of kaposi sarcoma-associated herpesvirus forms complex with retinoblastoma tumor suppressor protein. Data indicate that the tumor suppressor protein is a target of the small DNA viruses suggesting that the oncogenic activity of the sarcoma virus is influenced by the small DNA viruses.
