A nurse executive's nightmare: the rogue nurse
Article Abstract:
A nurse engaging in rogue behavior is the nursing executive's nightmare, and a variety of such behaviors are possible. One could be an impostor, pretending to be a licensed nurse. Substance abusers could divert drugs and medication. Sexual predators exist who take advantage of patients. Killers exist who may rationalize murder as ending pain. Case studies and suggestions are presented.

Work redesign: making it a reality
Article Abstract:
A work redesign should involve an analysis of job tasks or job activities and assignment of those activities to specific job descriptions. Medical centers can apply key principles of work redesign to personnel and successfully define and implement new job descriptions. The process concerns all involved personnel and requires training and commitment.

Evaluating the performance of the APN
Article Abstract:
Different models exist for evaluation of advanced practice nurses' performance. These include goal attainment, judgemental and decision-facilitating models. Cost-effectiveness and cost-benefit are two aspects that can be studied with models. Costs, productivity and quality can be related by studying outcome evaluation.
