Issues concerning the difficulties encountered by nurse practitioners in the process of obtaining recognition of their professional status in the United Kingdom and worldwide are discussed. Particular attention is given to comparisons between Britain, United States, the Netherlands and Australia.

Focus on the positive
Article Abstract:
Patients from an acute assessment ward at the Maudsley Hospital have been involved in a project designed to use photographs to promote a more positive image of the Peckham area of London, England. It is hoped that this work will make local people feel more positive about their environment.
