Across the border
Article Abstract:
Working in the nursing profession in England or Scotland can offer people a different perspective on life. Less populated areas of Scotland provide a challenge for nurses who have been used to overcrowded wards and nursing units in England. Scottish nurses may find working in England a challenge because of the fast pace of life, although they will be rewarded by a hectic social calender. Nurses working in parts of Southern England are rewarded with higher pay than their counterparts in Scotland.

'Grey letters' could break human rights laws
Article Abstract:
UK government plans to inform prospective employers about the unsuitability of inadequate nurses who apply for jobs with them could be an infringement of human rights, according to solicitors who believe the grey letter name and shame system could lead to legal action from those named in letters. The system could be open to the use of vindictive or corrupt employers, suggest nursing unions, who want to see plans for the scheme dropped.
