Age, vision impairments combined increase driving risk
Article Abstract:
Study results indicate that older drivers whose field of vision is at least 40% impaired are twice as likely as other older drivers to incur a motor vehicle accident. The study, conducted by the University of Alabama, Birmingham's School of Medicine, found that impaired-vision drivers were 2.2 times as likely to have crashed a vehicle. The results were reported in the Journal of the American Medical Assn's Apr 8, 1998, issue.
