Amniotic fluid infection and cerebral palsy: focus on the fetus
Article Abstract:
More research is needed to determine if infection of the fetus is responsible for cerebral palsy. In the past, physicians did not realize that infection in the amniotic fluid may have been a marker of fetal infection. Instead, it was assumed that the mother was infected. A 1997 study found that infection of the placenta increased the risk of cerebral palsy in the infant. However the fetus may also be infected and perhaps the inflammatory response in the fetus is responsible for causing cerebral palsy. Amniotic fluid infections are more common in premature infants, as is the risk of cerebral palsy.

Benefits of adding a drug to a single-agent or a two-agent chemotherapy regimen in advanced non-small-cell lung cancer: A meta-analysis
Article Abstract:
The objective this study is to evaluate the clinical benefit of adding a drug to a single-agent or two-agent chemotherapy regimen in terms of tumor response rate, survival, and toxicity in patients with advanced non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC). It was found that tumor and survival rate improves when a second drug is added whereas, no effect on survival rate and a weaker effect on tumor response are observed on the addition of third drug.

Diagnosis of intra-amniotic infection by proteomic profiling and identification of novel biomarkers
Article Abstract:
The objective of this study was to identify protein signature in rhesus monkeys with experimental intra-amniotic infection (IAI). Identification of peptide biomarkers for occult IAI was the main outcome of this study.
