An African perspective
Article Abstract:
Africa has over 85% of the world's malaria cases and deaths, yet malaria can easily be treated. The trouble in Africa is that the disease does not get diagnosed early on because malaria is identified based on clinical features and not laboratory work. Diagnosing malaria based on clinical features results in a 50% error rate. Many Africans also fail to go to the hospital, option for local herbal heals or spiritual healers.
