Application of caring theory in primary care: a challenge for advanced practice
Article Abstract:
The theory of caring as used by advanced practice nurses (APN) in primary care is what distinguishes the nurses' relationship with the patient from that of all other providers. Caring moves the relationship between provider and patient-family from the medical model of donor-recipient to that of partners in a health venture. This actively involves the patient and family in the sort of participation which improves the opportunities for healthful outcome.

Professional practice leader: a transformational role that addresses human diversity
Article Abstract:
The professional practice leader (PPL) plays an important role in the transformation of a health center from the traditional model in which the provider is the center of focus to the newer model of focus on the patient. The value of recognition of the patient as an unique human being is based on R.R. Parse's theory of human becoming. This involves becoming able to see concepts such as quality of life from the patient's perspective, among other things.
