Health-care accountability: communicating quality to the public
Article Abstract:
Interest in health-care accountability has increased in the 1990s and The Foundation for Accountability, a nonprofit organization, has been created to develop a standard set of measures for health-care quality. Current surveys show that consumers do not use the independent ratings of health-care quality, most likely because they are not in laymen's terms. The development of consumer-oriented ratings should increase consumer interest, as shown by a Massachusetts project providing public information on physicians in Nov 1996.

Managing the Clinic Wait: An Important Quality of Care Challenge
Article Abstract:
Patients are dissatisfied with the care received through nursing and health professional organizations. Health care organizations must manage their clinic wait if they want to improve service. Failure to involve consumer-driven features into the design of the waiting experience will elicit provider and patient dissatisfaction.
