Asbestos RPE research
Article Abstract:
Respiratory protective equipment may not be as effective in the field as laboratory tests imply. The research published by the Health and Safety Executive showed that in real life situations asbestos protection given by RPE was sufficient, but stressed other steps should be taken to reduce concentration of toxic matter without relying solely on RPE. Three steps to improve removal safety are wet removal, containment of particles by vacuuming or glove bag technique, and avoidance of power-tool use to reduce dust.
