Physicians who purchase automated appointment scheduling systems will find the systems integrate easily with other systems, such as billing, and can increase productivity and efficiency. The systems are especially recommended for larger offices with several physicians. Criteria for selecting such a system is given. Important features include access by multiple schedulers, ability to compile statistics and reports, ability to flag appointments with other account information and unlimited templates.

Conversion to paperless records may not be that hard
Article Abstract:
There is still a lot of confusion among doctors concerning the computerization of medical records. Some basic facts about converting paper-based records to electronic records are discussed. It is not nearly as difficult as it might seem to transfer years worth of records from paper to computer. It is advisable to stretch that process out over time, to stagger the workload.

Physicians have long resisted adopting computer technology in their medical practices, and many medical offices use computers only for billing, scheduling and correspondence. An integrated medical office management program would enable all patient data to be entered by various personnel for various aspects such as billing, diagnoses and orders.
