Bankrupt: the consequences can be severe, and a six-figure income won't always protect you
Article Abstract:
Many physicians suffer financial problems because of bad investments, especially in real estate. Also, some doctors accept advice from unqualified persons who may recommend purchase of unsuitable and expensive equipment. Busy physicians may expect their patient load to keep increasing, but in some parts of the US economic reverses have caused a lower number of patient visits. Bankruptcy, which prevents seizure of such assets as home, car, equipment and savings, can give the filer a second chance to meet responsibilities.

From examination room to executive suite
Article Abstract:
Physicians are increasingly considering moving from their practices into executive positions within the healthcare industry. They are motivated by such factors as wanting to be part of the managed care area, wanting to do something new or desiring to deal with large groups of people, rather than individuals. Health care organizations are realizing the benefits of having a physician on staff.

Change of heart?
Article Abstract:
Opportunities for international medical graduates (IMG) are declining due to overcapacity and rising stigmatization. Proposed federal cutbacks in Medicare and IGM residency funding and restrictions on IGM residency programs by American medical colleges could limit the number of IGMs in the US. Non-IGMs with foreign names also face discrimination by medical colleges.
