Breaking the E-code
Article Abstract:
Several prominent regulatory and trade consulting firms are lobbying against the use of the E-code for second-hand smoke. The classification codes are used to record information about an injury or disease. Multinational Business Services (MBS), a regulatory and trade consulting firm in Washington, DC, represents several tobacco, utility, chemical and food companies which claim to be adversely affected by the use of E-codes. MBS is pressuring the Office of Management and Budget to review the use of E-codes based on the tenets of The Paperwork Reduction Act.

Article Abstract:
Physicians who have let others take on the risk of developing and trying out new computer platforms may be regarded as foolishly slow to endorse technology but they may actually be the savvy ones. Those who jumped prematurely into the rapidly changing technology fray encountered clunky operating systems, slow modems, data loss, unportable 'portables,' and time-consuming and unprofitable uses of the World Wide Web.

Bare-bones insurance off to slow start
Article Abstract:
Few basic health care policies, which are offered in 11 states and are legal in 24, have been sold. This is because people must be uninsured for 12 months before applying for such a policy, and many people are unaware that such programs exist. In addition, the policies offer insurance carriers little profit. The issue of state mandates for particular treatments is also discussed.
