Barred exit
Article Abstract:
Nursing a 43 year old male patient with locked-in syndrome involved attending to all bodily needs and providing mental stimulation. The neurological disorder caused paralysis except for eye movement. However, the patient was fully conscious. Blinking was therefore the only means of communicating. An alphabet board was also used for messages. Care concentrated on maintaining the patient's comfort. A television provided entertainment.
