Bench marks
Article Abstract:
A model for the clinical supervision of district nurses and health visitors in Surrey, England, was developed by the supervisors involved due to the lack of appropriate literature. The clinical supervisors agreed that peer supervision of the group was also vital and that they should themselves be skilled in self-examination, inquiring and listening. The supervisors believed the nurses should perceive clinical supervision as a positive measure rather than as a threat. Written and oral communication was considered a vital area of the supervisory framework.

Client attachment in learning disabilities nurse education
Article Abstract:
The training programme for nurses specialising in caring for people with learning disabilities is seen to have several drawbacks, particularly the traditional system of client attachment, which allows the student too little time with the client. Southampton University School of Nursing and Midwifery has devised a new client attachment system that aims to allow the student long-term contact with clients, to introduce the subject of caseload management and to give the student transferable skills. A description of the programme is presented.
