Bipolar disorder
Article Abstract:
Bipolar disorder is described in numerous cultures over the course of history and is one of the most distinct syndromes in psychiatry. Increasing evidence for the efficacy of new atypical antipsychotic drugs in the treatment of and prophylaxis against bipolar illness has provided a major treatment alternative that may, in the future, blur the diagnostic and therapeutic boundaries between bipolar illness and schizophrenia.

A focus is made on attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), a chronic condition with symptoms experienced over a lifetime, in children and adolescents. ADHD is characterized by the inability to marshal and sustain attention, modulate activity level, and moderate impulsive actions, resulting in maladaptive behaviors that are inconsistent with age and developmental level.
