Bottling up the pressure: baby milk formulas arestill much in evidence in maternity wards
Article Abstract:
Most maternity wards have prepared bottles of formula milk for mothers to use, and they have been criticised as a temptation for those women struggling with breastfeeding. This could be solved by encouraging women who are intending to bottle feed, to bring their own formula feeds into hospital. There are also suggestions that women should pay for each bottle used, as those women giving birth at home do not receive free samples from formula manufacturers.
