Physician reflects on prolonged dying of the elderly
Article Abstract:
There are many geriatric patients who seem to hover close to death for long periods of time. Caregivers can fell helpless, when faced with these patients. It is uncertain whether such patients are incapable of getting well or simply do not want to get well. Doctors, trained to provide comfort, can become disheartened over their inability to improve such patients' quality of life.

AIDS meeting bottom line: new choices require skilled decisions
Article Abstract:
Attendees at the 11th International Conference on AIDS were decidedly more optimistic than in 1994. The highlights of the conference included the advent of combination therapy and protease inhibitors. Additional topics discussed at the conference include anti-HIV therapy, viral load testing and new challenges faced by physicians which specialize in AIDS treatment.
