Cancer genes and the pathways they control
Article Abstract:
Cancer-gene mutations, which enhance net cell growth, are studied. It is found that eradicating billions of cancer cells with multiple genetic abnormalities is a daunting task and the number of pathways that could be targeted by new generation of drugs is limited, knowledge of the genes altered in cancer will provide the basis for new generations of diagnostic tests, prevention and early detection are the most feasible means to reduce cancer deaths.

Combinatorial chemoprevention of intestinal neoplasia
Article Abstract:
Research reveals that a combination of a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug sulindac and a newly developed epidermal growth factor inhibitor EKI-569 is a good strategy for the chemoprevention of human colonic neoplasia. Data show that about 50% of the treated mice stayed free of polyps whereas 100% of untreated developed approximately 20 polyps.
