Capital idea: AMA project an investment in the future of the profession

The American Medical Association's (AMA) Physicians Capital Source will link investors with physicians who would like to start a group practice. The AMA has instituted a review panel for funding proposals and plans an advertising campaign to publicize the program. The AMA has also prepared a booklet to aid physicians in preparing a detailed business plan required as part of their funding application.

AMA changes keep medicine as new as today
Article Abstract:
Physicians and the American Medical Assn (AMA) face new possibilities and challenges. The Federation consortium study represents an opportunity for organized medicine to further build on the successful structure already in place. Physicians should voice their opinions on medicine's restructuring now, during the planning stage. Also discussed are changes within the AMA.

Medical staff section expands focus beyond hospitals
Article Abstract:
The American Medical Assn has renamed its Hospital Medical Staff Section. It is now called the Organized Medical Staff Section, and its role is to address the problems and preserve the rights of physicians working in health maintenance organizations, preferred provider organizations, physician-hospital organizations and other such groups.
