Chemotherapy use in the last 6 months of life among Medicare patients with cancer
Article Abstract:
About one-fourth of all cancer patients 65 years old and older receive chemotherapy in the last 6 months of life, according to Medicare statistics. Many received chemotherapy even though it probably wouldn't help them because they had a type of cancer that does not respond to chemotherapy. This may not be a good use of resources.

How willing are doctors to give patients with terminal cancer accurate information about their chances of survival?
Article Abstract:
Many doctors would not tell cancer patients how much longer they have to live or would overestimate their chances for survival. This was the conclusion of a survey of 258 doctors who had patients with terminal cancer.
